Pool fencing in Orange.

Compliant pool fencing built to AS 1926.1 and the NSW Swimming Pools Act, set up to pass inspection first time. Frameless and semi-frameless glass for an unbroken view, or powder-coated flat-top aluminium that shrugs off Orange’s frost and UV without rusting. With a self-closing, self-latching compliant gate.

Compliant pool fencing options.

  • Frameless glass: 12mm toughened glass panels on spigots, no top rail, for a near-invisible barrier and the best view of the pool. ~$500-$700/m.
  • Semi-frameless glass: glass panels between slim posts, a more budget-friendly glass look. ~$350-$500/m.
  • Flat-top aluminium: powder-coated vertical-bar fencing, the most cost-effective compliant option, non-rusting in our freeze-thaw climate. ~$180-$260/m.
  • Compliant gates: self-closing, self-latching gates that open away from the pool, with the latch at the required height. ~$450-$900.

What the law actually requires.

Pool fencing in NSW is governed by AS 1926.1 and the Swimming Pools Act 1992, and the rules are strict because they exist to stop young children drowning. The barrier must be at least 1.2m high, the gap at the bottom and between verticals must be under 100mm, the non-climbable zone must be clear of any foothold a child could use, and the gate must be self-closing and self-latching and open away from the pool. Your pool must be on the NSW Swimming Pool Register and hold a current certificate of compliance, which an inspection from Orange City Council or a private certifier confirms. We build the fence so it meets every one of these points.

Built to pass first time.

The most common reasons a pool fence fails inspection are a non-compliant gap, a climbable object left inside the non-climbable zone, or a gate that does not self- close and latch reliably. We design the fence line to keep the danger zone clear, set the gaps correctly, and fit a quality self-closing hinge and latch set up to the right heights. The result is a fence that passes the inspection and keeps your pool certificate current, not one you have to fix after a failed visit. In Orange’s frost we also footing the posts properly so the fence does not move out of compliance over the first winter.

Worked example.

A 20m flat-top aluminium pool fence with one compliant self-closing gate, in a town backyard on flat ground, comes in around $5,200 installed. The same run in semi-frameless glass is closer to $8,500, and frameless glass higher again. See the pricing page for the full rate card.

Frequently asked questions.

How much does pool fencing cost in Orange?

Flat-top aluminium runs about $180 to $260 per metre, semi-frameless glass $350 to $500, and frameless glass from $500 to $700. A compliant self-closing gate adds $450 to $900. A 20m aluminium fence with a gate lands around $4,500 to $6,000.

What standard must pool fencing meet in NSW?

AS 1926.1 and the Swimming Pools Act 1992: minimum 1.2m height, gaps under 100mm, a clear non-climbable zone, and a self-closing self-latching gate that opens away from the pool. The pool must be registered and hold a current certificate of compliance.

Do you build pool fences ready for inspection?

Yes. We build to AS 1926.1 so it passes, with correct height and gaps, a clear non-climbable zone and a compliant gate, set up for what an Orange City Council or private certifier inspection checks.

Is glass or aluminium better for Orange?

Both are non-corroding, which matters in our freeze-thaw winters. Glass gives the unbroken view at a higher cost, aluminium is the budget-friendly compliant option. We bring samples to the measure.
